| Personality: | I am looking for someone to date occasionally. Status not inportant...always sincle, divorced, married, etc. but should enjoy eating out, movies, possibly tennis, someone very mature....I am without cultural prejudice, enjoy a broad spectrum of personalities and once I learn to care for someone, am very caring.
Who I am is largely defined by where I have been (dozens of countries), who I have learned from, who loved me, cared for me…who I learned to love, care for and provided for.
I think the experiences of having been accepted into multiple families, radically different cultures, enhanced my capacity to be a good friend, to listen before speaking, to understand rather than judge, to error on the side of giving over taking and convinced me that in-depth relationships opens the door to added happiness.
It is important to me to stay physically fit & healthy by working out, taking long walks (the longest was the 1,000 miles from Baghdad through Syria, Jordan to Bethlehem.),
playing tennis, hiking, skiing, and scuba diving and being careful about what I eat & drink.
When I am not on assignment overseas I live and work in the hills above Pasadena on fifty acres with a dog, some deer, coyotes, servel cats, and the occasional bear or mountain lion…..yes I love animals
I enjoy visiting historic homes (I have restored three in Pasadena); quaint and antique shops, significant architecture and wineries. Walking a beach is great, walking a culturally rich venue like Venice Beach more fun.
I consider myself happy, partially because for a long time I have gotten to be my own boss, set my own pace and do mostly what I think is important or significant in helping to reduce conflict and violence; foster peace and strive for justice.
By training I am a cultural anthropologist with a specialty in cross-cultural communication. Early on I spent a lot of time trying to understand, in-depth, many different cultures. So I enjoy people a lot, |
